My prices have just tripled per month and I don't think my usage has gone up. How much is a fair price at this moment for gas and electricity per unit?

3.6 pence per KWH for gas and around 14.5 p KWH for electric

I find myself with an unlimited amount of free electricity and natural gas and am in need of some extra cash. I need ideas of things I can make or do with this advantage in life.

set up a store that sells natural gas at uncompetitive low rates.
free electricity- either sell it back to the grid and the electric company will a have pay you for it, or start you’re own grid and let people to buy into it, selling it at again, uncompetitive low rates.

you can also sell this free unlimited electricity in a form of a battery to the DoD, which today American soldier’s most important equipment still runs on unreliable, limited supply batteries.

sell your free electric power to Pres. Obama. He’s so green he may put solar panels on the roof of the white house. Pres. Obama will make you a rich person.

sell nat. gas to anyone who needs it, do it our of US jurisdiction and unrelated to the US. so if you supply gas to America’s enemy you won’t have problems.

i really want a hot tub but i cant afford to heat it using electricity or gas. is there any other way to heat a hot tub??

Maybe go green and see if solar is an option!

I’m moving in to a flat soon and I need to know what is the cheapest gas and electricity out there… Scottish Power told me £50 a month for both… British Gas told me £33 a fortnight but if I done it through direct debt and online it would be £52 a month for both. Is this the cheapest it’s going too get? I’ll be living in the flat on my own, it’s only a smallish one bedroomed flat.

i live on my own in a small one bedroom flat in London. BG charges me £35 a month for gas only (i have a gas hob&oven and gas c/h) and I pay about 20ish for electricity on a key. The thing is- they only give you an estimate price and the more often you give them the meter readings, the more accurate your bill will be. They can’t charge you for things that you are not using. so if you have overpayed, they will take it off your next bill.

My gas and electricity bills are going thorugh the roof. I need urgent advise on who to appraoch for help. Presently with British Gas for both.

Whichever gas company you’re with, the prices are unlikely to be vastly different, but you could look in the Yellow Pages and call around different companies to get specific prices.

Your best way to reduce your bills, though, would be to use less. There are lots of simple conservation tricks you can use - saving small amounts here are there can really add up.
- Make sure you have good insulation. If you’re in a house, putting an extra layer of insulation in the loft space makes a huge difference and is not expensive. On a smaller scale, make sure that you have good seals around your doors and windows. Use draft excluders, if necessary.
- Turn off lights when you’re not using them. Switch to high-efficiency bulbs. They cost a lot more in the short term, but they make a huge difference to your electricity consumption.
- Make sure your fridge has good seals around it, so you’re not paying to cool your kitchen!
- Only put the amount of water you need into the kettle. You’ll get your cuppa faster, too.

Those are just a few things. I don’t live in England any more, but there may be grants available to offset the cost of making your home more energy-efficient. It will increase the value of your home, too. In the meantime, start with the little things and you’ll see some improvements in your bills.

i pay £65 a month combined gas and electric with scottish power in a brand new 4 bed town house. If you use £70 a month move to another flat or change supplier.

Your question really depends on your usage. Obviously, you pay an electric bill regardless, but electric strip heating (or it's variations) can be very expensive. You didn't say, but are you renting? If so, you might not have a whole lot of choices but to go with what's already installed. On the other hand, if you do have choices, natural gas for cooking, heating and hot water would be the least expensive.

Think about it,HYBRID cars are made for gas AND/OR electricity! What if we did'nt need gas anymore?Power is generated through alot of things opposed to gas produces ozone depletion! Especially with all this technology someone will eventually make a breakthrough!

Slick idea. Except 80% of electricity is produced with either coal or natural gas.
